  Paris / Fontainebleau / Route Jacques Cœur / La Verrerie

  Fontainebleau. With its richness and power to surprise, the magnificent castle of Fontainebleau sums up the history of France.

  From Francis I (the castle was his favorite residence) to Napoleon III, each sovereign left a unique mark on the structure and its grounds.

  Wine tasting in Menetou-Salon chalky-clay hillsides close to Sancerre produce very good, expressive, fresh and balanced white (Sauvignon) and red wines (Pinot Noir)

  Dinner and overnight at La Verrerie a lovely castle built in the 15th century, nestled alongside a romantic lake and surrounded by a large forest, near the Sancerre vineyards.

  Bourges / Vezelay / Dijon

  Bourges. Capital of the Berry region, visit St Etienne cathedral, a Gothic masterpiece and the Palais Jaques Cœur.

  Born in Bourges around the year 1400, Jacques Coeur rapidly rose to the top of the social ladder. After he became Finance Minister to the King Charles VII and a nobleman, he began the construction of his Palace, which was finished around 1450. This monument unique in France for its time illustrates the original personality of its builder.

  En route to Burgundy, Lunch stop at La Charité-sur-Loire. The village rises in terraces from the majestic sweep of the river Loire. The priory church, despite the damage, is still a good example of Romanesque architecture in Burgundy.

  Vezelay. Built on the top of a hill overlooking a small river valley. The basilica of Sainte-Madeleine, towering over the town with its old houses and ramparts is a masterpiece of the Romanesque art in Burgundy, and one of the treasures of France.

  Dijon - Excursion to the Route Of The Burgundy Wines

  Dijon. Former capital of one of the most important duchy in Europe, Dijon offers an exceptional cultural patrimony, such as the 'Palais des Ducs' and the Fine Arts Museum.

  Ideal starting point for a tour of great vintage wines (Route des Grands Crus)

  Nuits-Saint-Georges attractive little town, center of the vineyards to which it gave its name. It became famous when Fagon, doctor of Louis XIV, advised the king to take some glasses of Nuits with each meal as a tonic.

  Tour of the historical Clos de Vougeot, built by Cistercian monks in the 12th century. Surrounded by magnificent vineyards, it houses prestigious cellars and collections of winepresses from the Middle Ages.

  Beaune. Capital of the Burgundy wines. Visit of the Hôtel-Dieu, a marvel of Burgundian-Flemish art. The medieval building, with its preserved décor and magnificent colored glazed tiles, houses the famous polyptych of the Last Judgment, by Rogier van der Weyden, masterpiece of Flemish art.

  From the 15th century until recently it served as a charitable hospital, it is now an impressive repository of art and mementos of customs and medical practices in medieval Burgundy.

  Dijon / Colmar/ Strasbourg

  Colmar. Charming city of typical Alsatian character.

  Picturesque streets with half-timbered and flower-decked houses and the 'Little Venice' district unaltered by time and war…Visit the Unterlinden museum, with the famous 'Isseheim Altarpiece', by Matthias Grünewald, a 24-panels altarpiece depicting the Passion.

  Colmar is the starting point of numerous excursions along the Route des Vins d'Alsace.

  Strasbourg. Capital of the Alsace and Capital of Europe (the Parliament of Europe is located there). City of Art and gastronomy. See the historical center of Strasbourg including "la Petite France", lying on the banks of river Ill and Notre-Dame, built in pink sandstone from the Vosges, one of the finest and most original gothic Cathedrals. Visit the Oeuvre Notre-Dame museum, housing some extraordinary original sculptures from the Cathedral.

  Strasbourg / Excursion to the Alsatian Wines Road

  Mount Sainte Odile. One of the most popular sights in Alsace, it has been a pilgrimage town since the middle ages.

  Saint Odile, patroness saint of Alsace, founded the monastery in the 18th century. Route Of The Alsace Wines. Unlike in other regions of France, here the wines are named by the grape that is used (Riesling, Pinot noir, Gewürztraminer...)

  Riquewhir. Attractive little Alsatian town, in the heart of a wine-growing area, it has little changed since the 16th and 17th centuries. There are wine aromas floating in the streets of Riquewhir !, famous for the Riesling production, one of the best vintages in the region. Extraordinary Christmas shop too.

  Strasbourg / Baccarat / Nancy

  Baccarat. This small town lying on both sides of the river Meurthe is famous for its crystalworks founded in 1764.

  Beautiful crystal objects can be admired in the museum and in the exposition stores, shopping.

  Nancy. Capital of Lorraine. See the Stanislas square, a superb 18th century architectural ensemble with the famous railings by Jean Lamour. Visit the Ecole de Nancy Museum, their members developed the 'Art Nouveau' or 'Modern Style' around 1900 under the leadership of Emile Gallé.

  Nancy / Metz / Epernay / Reims

  Metz. Major junction at the heart of Lorraine, very fine gothic cathedral with a splendid ensemble of stained glass windows.

  Epernay is with Reims, the main wine-growing center of the Champagne region and the meeting point of three major wine-growing areas: the Montagne de Reims, the Côte des Blanc and the Marne Valley. Visit a famous Champagne house on the avenue de Champagne.

  Reims. See Reims cathedral where most French Kings were crowned and the young and lively city center. Visit and tasting of a great Champagne house with chalky cellars like Taittinger, Veuve-Cliquot, Pommery, Mumm, or Ruinart...

  Reims/ Compiègne/ Chantilly/ Paris

  Compiègne. Residence of Louis XV, Louis XVI, Napoleon I and Napoleon III.

  Visit the opulent palace interiors, and the car and Second Empire museums.

  Chantilly includes the Castle with the Condé museum (first private painting collection in France, furniture, library), the park, the hippodrome, the forest and the Musée Vivant du Cheval, housed in one the most beautiful stables in the world, the Great Stables of the Princes of Condé.
